Kimi is one of Malaysia’s SSL pioneers, achieving a notable 10th-place finish in Gran Canaria in 2023. He formerly competed on the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) as the trimmer for Malaysia’s Koo Racing Team (KRT), which reached a world ranking of 13th in November 2016 (World Sailing). A dominant figure in dinghy sailing, Kimi was national champion for eight consecutive years—first in the International 420 class (2003–2006) and then in the International 470 class (2007–2010). He has also represented Malaysia at the Asian Games and the Southeast Asian Games. Beyond dinghies, Kimi is an active keelboat sailor, competing in the J70, SB20, and various other keelboat classes.
